WU Tengteng

Lecturer in Erhu
School of Music and Dance, Xihua University

Dr. Wu Tengteng holds a Ph.D. and is a lecturer in erhu at the School of Music and Dance, Xihua University, and an affiliated member of the Lab of Learning Sciences at Peking University. She comes from a background in erhu performance and teaching and has released three solo albums. Her research and teaching focus on the integration of artificial intelligence and aesthetic education; grounded in the learning sciences, her work explores how generative AI can be applied in arts education.

In recent years she has taught and lectured on “vibe coding,” including an invited lecture on music and AI at the University of Oxford in February 2026. She brings natural-language-driven programming into the classroom for learners in the arts, lowering the technical barrier so that students without a programming background can use AI tools to create music visualizations, interactive exercises, and other works. She is also co-authoring a textbook on vibe coding, currently in preparation.

In her erhu teaching, she combines vibe coding with gamified learning, designing supporting tools for practice feedback and pitch visualization that aim to improve both the efficiency and the enjoyment of learning. This line of work extends to “AI and Music Literacy,” a general-education course she has designed, which seeks a genuine integration of music-making and artificial intelligence rather than a simple juxtaposition of the two.
