Game Introduction

Running Fraction is a practice game for primary school students that targets fraction understanding and comparing fractions, grounded in research findings from neuroscience, education, and psychology. Its core mechanic is based on embodied cognition theory: players control a game character to move left and right and judge the position of a fraction on a number-line wall. An effectiveness study found that Running Fraction can improve Grade 4 students’ conceptual knowledge of fractions. Performance data from 66 students showed that after a five-day fraction-game intervention (20 minutes per day), students’ average score on fraction conceptual knowledge increased by 29%.
