MathBlock (怪兽消消消)
Game Introduction
MathBlock (怪兽消消消) is an online primary school mathematics game independently developed by the PKU Lab of Learning Sciences and built with Cocos2d-js. By integrating the current National Primary School Mathematics Curriculum Standards and the latest research findings in mathematical cognition, the game aims to help children aged 5–7 learn numbers and addition/subtraction within 20 more scientifically and effectively, thereby developing number sense. The game consists of four chapters, each containing 10 levels. In terms of content organization, it follows two lines: (1) it aligns with the structure of Grade 1 mathematics textbooks by interleaving “number understanding” and “number calculation”; Chapters 1–4 respectively cover number understanding and addition/subtraction within 5, within 10, within 20, and a final chapter of comprehensive practice. (2) it is consistent with the “triple coding” theory of mathematical cognition, providing progressive practice on nine types of conversions among three quantity codes (analog magnitude coding, visual numeral coding, and auditory-verbal coding), such as analog magnitude coding → visual numeral coding.
